The public tap
Municipal governments are understandably frustrated by the bottled-water fad that has seen large companies bottle local tap water and sell it at great profit, but they should not get swept up in regulating citizens' lifestyles. They should stick to measures within their own mandates and facilities.
Russia earns distrust
It's the withdrawal that isn't. Despite an internationally brokered ceasefire and withdrawal agreement between Russia and Georgia, and promises from the Kremlin that Russian forces would begin by Monday to leave the country they had invaded, they remain, and they are busy.
No reason to scold doctors
Speaking at the annual meeting of the Canadian Medical Association, Health Minister Tony Clement took it upon himself this week to accuse doctors of failing to look out for the interests of drug addicts. Even if his words had not been delivered the same week that his Conservative Party distributed advertisements pledging to keep ''junkies'' off the streets and away from children and families, his audience would have had reason to take offence.
