Krispy Kreme Serves Doughnuts and Coffee . . . While ADP's pay@work Takes Care of Payroll
Before the first Canadian Krispy Kreme Hot Doughnut Factory opening in December 2001, and before the famous "Hot Doughnuts Now" neon sign glowed red in Mississauga, KREMEKO Inc, the Canadian operators of Krispy Kreme (in all provinces except BC) had already signed up for ADP payroll services.
According to Jeff Sarfin, VP Finance and Administration at KREMEKO, "We're here to sell doughnuts and coffee. Krispy Kreme's a business that's been very successful in the US since 1937, and while we know doughnuts, we felt we didn't have to become payroll experts too."
KREMEKO and ADP
KREMEKO was awarded the exclusive geographical rights to Krispy Kreme in December 2000. By August 2001, the company was ready to make a final decision as to how the KREWTM (employees) at the various stores across the country would be paid. According to Sarfin, the decision was easy. "We liked the package that ADP was offering - it looked like a good match to our needs, and they seemed to have the service backup to support our stores across the country, now and in the future."
"We felt that with ADP's Internet-based solution, pay@workTM, we would get the connectivity we need while minimizing systems problems at our various stores. Plus of course, a store manager can hook-up anytime to pay@work, even if their local Internet service is unavailable, or if he or she wanted to complete their payroll input from home - it's not a problem!"
