For instance, 18-year-old Mindy Gray of Greeley, Col., has collected more than $500 (U.S.) in goodies from fans after her diary went online two years ago, reported The Denver Post. "Both of Mindy's parents raised Cain when they saw the salty language their daughter used in her blog musings. 'Teenagers talk like that!' Mindy protested."

Blogger Milestone: At some point during Friday, February 22, 2002, someone posted the 10-millionth post to a Blogger-powered Web log. The winner was Agent Vulga, with a scan of a yellow page ad.

Blogging begins: Most online sources point to 1999 as the beginning of widespread blogging, as free online software tools eased the process of creating daily logs without specialized Web knowledge.
