NASA woes put space future on hold

This weekend's tragedy couldn't have come at a worse time for NASA and manned space programs.Even before losing the Columbia shuttle, the United States space agency was already buckling under budgetary problems, and the former head of its advisory panel was warning that further belt-tightening would hamper safety.
