Net phones just a small device away

A device a little bigger than a videocassette is all that stands between making a phone call over traditional phone lines and making it over the Internet. "You don't have to sit beside the computer," said Ted Chislett, president of Primus Telecommunications Canada Inc.Primus Canada this week unveiled its new TalkBroadband service, the first phone service in the country to use a high-speed Internet connection to transport calls. The company's rates are at least 15 per cent cheaper than those from the big-name phone companies, which use older networks for voice communication.
