A small lament for TV season's last whimper

I've always taken the end of the TV season rather personally. This year, it's a bit worse than usual.The onset of the dog-days of summer-rerun season is unpleasant enough, but somehow it adds insult to injury when a revered program goes out on an intentionally flat note. Case in point: 24. The finale of the show two nights back has left a sour taste with viewers. Simply put, there was no payoff. Many of us devoted a damn sizable packet of time to 24 this year and the writers chose to end it like a bad outing of Miami Vice.
