Bush's debt to Keynes
George W. Bush's latest budget projects a deficit of close to $300-billion (U.S.). This targeted deficit has caused paroxysms of displeasure and great gnashing of teeth among traditional Clinton Democrats and fiscal conservatives in the United States. New York Times columnist Paul Krugman has denounced Mr. Bush for "fiscal irresponsibility" and Prime Minister Jean Chrétien joined the chorus when he attacked the Bush deficit in an interview, and again at the economic summit in Greece.
