Jack Nicholson, I think, was the worst news for sufferers of mental illness in the past 50 years. As the charming lunatic in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, he helped persuade an entire generation that deranged people are romantic figures who are often punished for being non-conformists. Let them alone! Underneath, they're a lot less crazy than the horrible Nurse Ratched.
