SARS now 'stopped dead in its tracks,' WHO says

TORONTO -- Canadian SARS cases took another significant plunge yesterday as the chief of the World Health Organization declared the disease has been "stopped dead in its tracks."The virus claimed a 34th victim in Ontario this week. But the number of active probable cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome in the province -- the last remaining bastion of the virus in Canada -- has fallen to 37, down seven from Monday and 23 since June 6.
