U.S. jobless report pulls stocks lower

North American stocks slid yesterday as the U.S. economy unexpectedly lost jobs last month and a gauge of manufacturing in the United States fell short of economists' forecasts.The government reports tempered optimism that corporate profits will grow fast enough during the second half to support higher share prices.
