On the Iraq war, we made a declaration of national integrity

Words such as "epic" or "vindication" don't readily fit into the Canadian context. But the two years since 9/11 have constituted a landmark period in Canada-U.S. relations, and the decision on whether to go to war was about as epic as Canadian decisions get. Was the country going to enter into the American citadel, or was it going to stand aside? Either way, it would be a bold and lasting statement on Canadian values, the way we viewed ourselves at home, the way we were viewed abroad.
