Mayoral candidates square off on arts funding
TORONTO -- Toronto's five leading mayoral candidates strongly agree that the city's struggling arts-and-culture sector needs support and money, but they differ on how to rescue it."Arts and culture will never be marginalized when I'm mayor," Barbara Hall vowed during a candidates' debate on arts and culture held at the Front Street headquarters of the CBC last night. More than 500 people attended, including local artists, musicians, members of the television and film industries and authors such as Katherine Govier.
