Morgan Stanley hit with funds penalty

WASHINGTON -- Brokerage giant Morgan Stanley has agreed to pay $50-million (U.S.) to settle allegations that it inappropriately steered customers into select mutual funds in exchange for secret commissions as regulators target the industry's controversial fee regime.
