Flu forces special measures
Two hospitals in Southern Ontario are taking SARS-like precautions to cope with outbreaks of influenza, the latest sign of an unusually severe flu season striking nationwide.St. John's Rehabilitation Hospital in Toronto has virtually closed its doors, banning visitors and refusing to take any new patients or transfers after one patient was diagnosed with influenza A and a number of others on the same unit displayed cold-like symptoms. The hospital should get test results back over the weekend and will discuss them with the city's Health Department, which asked for the clampdown after the one case was confirmed late Wednesday.
