B.C. too close to fish-farming industry, critics say
VICTORIA -- John van Dongen's resignation as British Columbia's fisheries minister stems from the provincial Liberal government being far too cozy with the salmon-farming industry, critics said yesterday.Mr. van Dongen, who stepped down from cabinet on Jan. 27, promoted the industry while glossing over the environmental and scientific risks of raising salmon inside huge nets in the ocean, aquaculture specialist Lynn Hunter said.
