Ontario calls federal SARS-aid offer 'outrageous'

Toronto — Ontario has rejected an offer of up to $250-million from the federal government for SARS relief, a sum that Municipal Affairs Minister David Young called "outrageous." "They said $150-million now, we'll talk about a further $100-million — take it or leave it," Mr. Young said Thursday after a meeting with federal Defence Minister John McCallum. "It would be irresponsible for us to take it." "I think this is outrageous.
