He wore this red cap for a couple of songs and we all just went crazy for it, everyone was screaming so loud I couldn't even hear myself. No wonder Britney went out with him. Why doesn't he go out with Christina, maybe coz she's a tramp. Anyway, he was so great -- I hope the mean groups like AC/DC didn't hurt him up in Downsview. Be strong, Justin.
The only annoying part of the show was my older sister. She insisted on coming along coz "we don't spend enough time together," she said.
If you're going to come to see my favourite artists, then don't complain throughout the show, I say to her. Even before it, we're sitting there at dinner and she's eating deep-fried frog on tomato (who eats that!) and she's telling me how Christina and Justin are all that is wrong with the music industry. How they're just these manufactured pop stars. "They're the reason I download all my music off Kazaa," she says. "They deserve to be ripped off for creating these people."
Whatever.
The really great thing is Justin played some of the older stuff, like Girlfriend, so we all sang along.
The new album, Justified, is really great. Ashley, who loves Justin almost as much as I do, was telling me that Timbaland worked on it with him and you can really tell coz there was lots of that "put your hands up/put your hands up" hip-hop thing going on and the dancers were fantastic, including Justin, of course, like at the beginning during Rock Your Body. My favourite parts were when he came on with a long black leather coat and then swung from a balcony onto the stage, so graceful -- and when he sang Still on My Brain. You could really tell he's got a pretty voice. If only the other musicians stopped playing and the sound people turned down the bass, I could listen to that voice forever.
Ashley really liked it when Justin disappeared through a piano, right through the floor. They let off an explosion in front of the piano so you didn't even notice how quickly he dropped down. My sister said, "Michael Jackson ended up on fire because of tricks like that." I was like, "Don't say that!"
So, okay. I have to admit that even though I think Christina Aguilera really needs someone to help her pick out her clothes in the morning, she was pretty good. She even looked all right, especially these black leather lace-up boots that were to die for and this really nice red silk dress. Except she wore pink pumps with it.
At the beginning she showed a video where she's tied up to a chair and all these words come on like "rumours" and "scandal;" saying how she's been so wronged by people saying nasty things about her. Like me maybe; I shouldn't call her a tramp.
Later on, she did this skit with this really hot dancer where he was stripping in this booth with curtains and the curtains kept coming down while he's taking off his clothes. Christina is wearing a black suit and sitting astride a chair, watching him. We were all screaming for the curtains to come back up. But my crazy sister was sitting there, laughing. I'm like "What's so funny?" So she said, "I'm laughing at the marketing. They're pretending she's controversial and gender-bending. It's all just ripping off Madonna."
Madonna! She's so ancient.
When Christina was wearing the red silk dress she sang this Etta James song called At Last. I've got to find some Etta James. Ashley didn't know who she was and my sister wouldn't tell me. Christina has a great voice. I was like almost crying when she did that Alicia Keys song, Impossible.
I was so excited after the show I even bought a drawing of Justin from a woman who was selling them for $10 on the street. I think she was selling Christina for $7. It's really nice, all in pencil or charcoal, I'm not sure. I'm going to the show tonight and I'm going to hold it up for him to see. But I'm not letting my sister come. She spoils everything.
The Justified and Stripped tour with Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera plays again tonight at Toronto's Air Canada Centre.
