Athens Alexandre Despatie won the men's three-metre springboard event Friday while fellow Canadians Blythe Hartley and Emilie Heymans claimed a silver in the women's 10-metre synchronized platform at the 14th FINA Diving World Cup.
Despatie scored 761.7 points to edge China's Feng Wang by 15.99 points. Bo Peng of China was third with 732.27 at Athens' Olympic sports complex.
The win helped make up for Thursday when Despatie and Philippe Comtois, both from Laval, Que., finished 10th and did not qualify an Olympic spot for Canada.
China's Lishi Lao and Ting Li dominated the women's synchronized platform event, winning with 343.20 points.
North Vancouver's Hartley and Heymans, from St-Lambert, Que., finished with 319.50 points, 3.36 points ahead of Mexico's Paola Espinosa and Jashia Luna.
The event serves as a qualifying round for the Olympics and a test for the venue that will host the sport during the Aug. 13-29 Games.
The competition continues Saturday with men's 10-metre synchronized finals and women's three-metre springboard finals, and Sunday with women's three-metre synchronized platform finals and the men's 10-metre platform finals.
