Calgary The Pengrowth Saddledome is packed to capacity when the Calgary Flames play the Lightning in Tampa, as fans watch the game on television.
After each win, thousands pour onto 17th Avenue, dubbed the Red Mile, in a celebratory flood.
Flames jerseys, now among the hottest sellers in North America, have become standard office garb.
Sports fandom, a bona fide area of academic study, has exploded.
