FILM: No Man's Land

FILM: Dogtown and Z-Boys
COMMENT:If you are a skateboarder from the 1970's, you will know doubt remember the Dogtown era. This film is an incredibly powerful testament to that time. Alva, Adams, Peralta, Glen E. Friedman's photos...it's all there along with tons of other legends...This film will ignite you and get you back into skateboarding! If you are new to skateboarding, or want to learn more about the roots of alternative board sports, this film is definately worth viewing. It is a compelling history and the soundtrack is amazing. -- 5 stars!
Michael Brooke, Toronto
FILM: Amelie
COMMENT: Absolutely fabulous -- 4 STARS
FILM: The Grey Fox
COMMENT: W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L! Had not seen Grey Fox in 1982 when originally released and I'd missed a winner. Photography (absolutely marvellous), script (tight), acting (world class). Had the good fortune to meet Jackie Burroughs near Ashley's later the same day. Her performance, along with that of Richard Farnsworth (sp?) I'll long remember Friday, Sept. 7th, 2001. A classic! -- 4 STARS
Eric Wheeler, Mississauga, Ont.
FILM: Lola
COMMENT: Drab. Director's filthy mouth on stage following Sat's 6:30 p.m. showing equalled the movie. I was left wondering, "Whatever could motivate a person to make a movie like that?" His time would have been better spent sorting through garbage. And, to think, he spoke of LOLA as the 2nd in a trilogy. God, spare me! Get a REAL job, why don't you. -- 0 STARS
