Mingling comedy and melodrama, this over-extended Japanese Gen-X feature focuses on two gay men who find each other, and then find their relationship threatened by a woman who wants to have a baby with one of them because she likes his eyes. Surrounding them is a host of characters striving for intimacy, dealing with mental illness and family secrets. Naoya (Kazuya Takahashi) works in a pet store, and falls for engineer Katsuhiro (Seiichi Tanabe). Asako (Reiko Kataoka), is a lost soul, who, after years of psychiatric counselling and promiscuous sex, has been advised by her doctor to be sterilized. Instead, she decides to have a baby to give her hope for the future and while she pursues her goal, Naoya's intrusive family descends on him, determined to help him straighten up his life. - L.L.
